Parts of ourselves - identities we embody or internalize - arise as we work toward vocations, professions, studies, sports, spiritualities, genders, and much more.

These parts of ourselves are an integral concept in IFS and similar therapeutic modalities. They are never "bad." They never "die." The Parts of our Selves may choose to perform other "jobs," but they will always exist.

Attempting to annihilate or abandon Parts can cause harm. Thus, disruptions in a call to ordained ministry - for whatever reason - may cause an individual experience grief, trauma, and emotional distress. Failure to heal a Part discovered during discernment of vocation can plague a person for many years.
